Tea drinking is a core part of Japanese culture, and green tea is often served in tall handle-less cups. This set features iconic images of woodblock prints from Sharaku’s brief career.

Tōshūsai Sharaku is the pseudonym for an anonymous Japanese woodblock artist who became swiftly famous for his sometimes unflattering portraits of Kabuki performers. His career spanned a single year between 1794-1795, and was met with wide criticism, although he was later celebrated. The British Museum holds a number of Sharaku's woodblock prints in its Prints and Drawings department.

Kabuki is a style of classical Japanese theatre, known for its extravagant costumes and kumadori make-up. Kabuki encompasses acting, dance and song, and is now protected on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List.
